The nature of Vlieland, a small island on the coast of the Netherlands, is the stage and the scenery of the music festival; Into the great wide open.
A gathering with friends and lots of different people, good music, visual arts and kids activities and lots of space and piece to enjoy.
You can find little treasures all over the island concerning food, visual arts and music.
After waking up at the campsite we heard someone telling about warm fresh bread in the dunes; so we went out for investigation.
There hidden in the dunes we only had to follow the smell and we found the bakery the 'Eenvoud', which means simplicity.
This bakery in the middle of the nature was a collaboration between artists and the forest service, to let people enjoy nature together in a special way.
We had a conversation about simplicity and what that means to us, simplicity.
A pleasant philosophical conversation, while enjoying a fresh warm little bread out of the mobile mud oven. Topped with some butter, as you can see.
The freshly picked blackberries next to our campsite made this free of charge morning totally complete, and all together one to never forget.

De natuur van Vlieland is het podium en decor van het muziekfestival; Into the great wide open, waar we dit jaar deelgenoot van konden zijn. Over het hele eiland waren schatten te ontdekken, zowel op culinair-, en muzikaal gebied als op het gebied van beeldende kunst.
Na het ontwaken op de natuurcamping hoorden we iemand iets zeggen over warme broodjes in de duinen; we gingen op onderzoek uit.
Daar verscholen in de duinen hoefden we alleen nog maar onze neus te volgen en vonden Bakkerij de Eenvoud. Hier vielen we (bijna letterlijk) met onze neus in de boter.
Het is een project ontstaan tussen kunstenaars en staatsbosbeheer om mensen op een bijzondere manier samen van de natuur te laten genieten.
We hadden een gesprek over eenvoud en wat dat voor ons inhoud, eenvoud. Een aangenaam filosofisch gesprek, ondertussen genietend van de vers gebakken warme broodjes uit de mobiele leem oven, met alleen een beetje boter. Of in Winter zijn geval, een heleboel boter. De geplukte bramen uit de struiken naast onze camping, maakte deze kosteloze ochtend tot een die ons nog lang zal bijblijven. Hoe eenvoudig kan het zijn?
